Featured Website: Pure Michigan

www.michigan.org

Michigan is home to more than 100 public beaches, some of the highest freshwater sand dunes in the world, stunning multi-colored sandstone cliffs, two National Lakeshores and the only national marine sanctuary in the Great Lakes – the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Lake Huron. More than 120 lighthouses, numerous maritime museums, 10 shipwreck-diving preserves and historic military forts grace Michigan’s Great Lakes shoreline.

With all those things to see and do, it is handy to have a knowledgeable guide. Pure Michigan offers a year-round window into Michigan – to help discover new places and to recall old favorites.

Three reasons to visit Pure Michigan

Jump off – Each of the Great Lakes has its own profile that provides a good launch pad for planning a Michigan adventure. For each lake there’s an overview, some cultural information and good suggestions on where to start exploring.

Interact – The site offers a place for you to share your Michigan stories and pictures or read about others’ adventures.

Tailor – With many ways to sift through Michigan information, the website is somewhat akin to a road trip. Meander down this link and cross over to there and you never know where you might turn up, finding previously hidden pockets within the state.
