Habitat: Marshes, rivers and bays.

  • Small lakes, marshes and rivers are the preferred habitat for this small dabbling duck.
  • Males have a brown head and green eye patch. They have a vertical, white stripe on their chest and iridescent green patch on their wings.
  • Summer breeding area for Green-winged Teals is primarily Canada, with a localized breeding area in northeastern Michigan.
