Habitat: Habitat: Marshes, ponds, shores, mud flats

  • Nearly 40 inches tall, the Great Egret is a large, slender white heron with black legs and a yellow bill.
  • When feeding, the Great Egret leans forward with neck extended.
  • Breeding range is central United States, but Great Egrets can also be seen in southern and central Michigan during summer.
