Habitat: Lakes, ponds, bays, marshes and fields.

  • The Canada goose is the most widespread goose in North America.
  • This large bird has a black head and neck (sometimes called a “stocking”) and a white chinstrap.
  • Canada geese nest in every Michigan county but are most common in the southern third of the state.
