Habitat: Oak and pine woods, backyard gardens

  • Large, blue bird with a prominent head crest and black neckband.
  • A common, backyard bird in Michigan, blue jays are often bold and opportunistic feeders, snatching almost anything edible!
  • Voice is a loud “jay, jay” call that mimics the call of some hawks.
