Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship

Description
The Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship provides a unique educational experience to students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The program matches graduate students with "hosts" in the legislative or executive branches, or other institutions located in Washington, D.C. The length of assignment is one-year.

Eligible Applicants
Any student who is in a graduate or professional program in a marine or aquatic-related field at a U.S. accredited institution of higher education may apply.

Great Lakes Commission - Sea Grant Fellowship

Description
The Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellow will work to advance the environmental quality and sustainable economic development goals of the Great Lakes states. The fellow will be housed at the Great Lakes Commission offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants include students who, at the time of application, are in a graduate or professional degree program in a marine or aquatic-related field at a U.S. accredited institution of higher education.

NOAA Coastal Management Fellowship

Description
The NOAA Coastal Services Center Coastal Management Fellowship program matches highly qualified, recently graduated master's, professional, and doctoral degree students with state hosts around the U.S. in state coastal zone management programs. For two years, the recipients work on substantive state-level coastal resource management issues that pertain to federal management policies and regulations.

Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecosystem Research Summer Fellows

This fellowship program provides students with an exciting opportunity to conduct research in the Great Lakes region under the mentorship of an individual scientist or professional. Summer fellowships are available in a broad range of fields including Aquatic Ecology, Communications, Outreach and Education, Maritime Archaeology, Data Analysis, Modeling, Marine Instrumentation, Fisheries, Oceanography, and Wetlands/GIS. Most fellows will be located at NOAA-GLERL in Ann Arbor, Michigan as guest students of the University of Michigan; a few fellows will be located at other sites, including the USGS Great Lakes Science Center (Ann Arbor, MI), the Great Lakes Fishery Commission (Ann Arbor, MI), the NOAA Lake Michigan Field Station (Muskegon, MI), and the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary (Alpena, MI).

Eligible Applicants
Preference is given to currently enrolled or just-graduated undergraduates, although graduate student applications will also be considered. Successful applicants will receive a stipend of $5,000 for the twelve-week fellowship. The start dates for these positions are either May 9th or June 6th, although alternative schedules may be permitted.
