Four Appointed to Aquatic Nuisance Species Coordinating Council
 
Governor John Engler today named four members to the Aquatic Nuisance Species Coordinating Council.   This newly created council will be responsible for improved coordination between the relevant state departments, the federal government, other Great Lakes states, existing Great Lakes institutions, and the general public.
 
William Taylor, of Okemos, is the associate director of the Michigan Sea Grant College Program at Michigan State University.  He is appointed to represent the general public for a term ending December 16, 2004.
 
Thomas Johengen, of Ann Arbor, is the director of the Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecosystems Research at the University of Michigan.  He is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 16, 2004.
 
Dennis Zimmerman, of Lake George, is president of the Michigan Lake and Stream Association.  He is appointed to represent the general public for a term ending December 16, 2003.
 
Chris Goddard, of Ann Arbor, is the executive secretary for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.  He is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 16, 2003.

Michigan Sea Grant, a cooperative program of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, is part of a national network of 30 Sea Grant programs dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of marine and Great Lakes resources. Funding is provided through the National Sea Grant College Program by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce.
