Lake Huron Fisheries Workshops
Save the date: Two Lake Huron fisheries workshops have been scheduled for April 2008. The southern Lake Huron workshop will be held in Bad Axe on April 12. The northern Lake Huron workshop will be held in Alpena on April 19. Coastal Access, Tourism, and Economic Development
This collaborative, integrated assessment project initiated by Michigan Sea Grant examines ways to capitalize on the region’s natural coastal assets to strengthen sustainable tourism and encourage economic development. Ocqueoc River Celebration 2008
In collaboration with the Ocqueoc River Commission and Onaway Schools, Sea Grant will assist with the school’s place-based education watershed study in 2008. Michigan Sea Grant is working with Presque Isle MSU Extension and 4-H in supporting the project. A final celebration event is set for May 30, 2008.

Northeast Michigan Great Lakes and Aquatic Education Networking Meeting
Nearly 40 school representatives, community educators, and community partners met in Northeast Michigan in early November to explore place-based education opportunities and potential partnerships. Watch for project report in early 2008. See: Details

Brandon serves as a liaison between coastal resource users in Northeast Michigan and the academic research community. He provides educational information and technical assistance to residents, businesses, government agencies and non-government organizations on managing resources, sustainable economic development, and understanding the Lake Huron and Great Lakes ecosystems.
