Wayne County's Elizabeth Park Riverwalk

Second Phase funding

• funded by $750,000 from the Clean Michigan Initiative Recreation Bond Program and $250,000 from Wayne County. Together these improvements expanded recreational opportunities, improved public access and natural habitat, and restored an important part of the community’s heritage.

Funding partner’s in the third phase include:

• $100,000 from Community Foundation of South East Michigan’s Greenways Initiative for Wayne County’s Elizabeth Park Boardwalk Trail, including habitat enhancement of the Detroit River shoreline
• $100,000 from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for habitat enhancement of the Detroit River shoreline at Wayne County’s Elizabeth Park
• $300,000 from Wayne County Parks for the Elizabeth Park boardwalk, including habitat enhancement of the Detroit River shoreline
• $250,000 from Great Lakes Fishery Trust

Link to Trenton’s Riverfront Park
Project and will be the terminus of the north-south greenway trail project linking Lake Erie Metro Park to Elizabeth Park that is currently in the pre-construction phase. Benefits include improving quality of life, celebrating history and culture, enhancing habitat, promoting regional cooperation and furthering economic development.
