Preparing Coastal Communities for Climate Change: Translating Model Results to Prepare Ports, Harbors and Storm water Management Facilities in an Era of Climate Variability and Scientific Uncertainty
Great Lakes Sea Grant Network
The Great Lakes Sea Grant Network is currently working with NOAA’s Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (NOAA-GLERL) on a project aimed at assisting Coastal Communities with issues related to Climate Change. Supported by NOAA Sectoral Applications Research Program (SARP), this project focuses on preparing for climate variability in the Great Lakes region. Sea Grant, together with NOAA-GLERL, will address scientific components such as forecasts. Project participants will also address an outreach component about climate change, including the communication of uncertainty, variability and building a planning paradigm that works within a framework of uncertainty and variability. NOAA Sector Applications Research Program (SARP) identified research and application priorities to foster improved decision support for fundamental climate-related issues in key socio-economic sectors.
