Sign Up for the National Ocean Science Bowl Regional Competition

Calling all science lovers: Show off what you know about the Great Lakes and ocean sciences. Team-up with your classmates and your favorite teacher to compete in the Great Lakes Bowl, Feb. 6, 2010.

Teams of high school students that can think fast and answer tough questions about marine and aquatic science are needed for this annual competition. Event organizers are looking for up to 16 teams. Each team consists of five high school students and one teacher/coach. The registration deadline is Dec. 1.

The Great Lakes Bowl is a regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB). Twenty-five participating regions across the U.S. host teams of high school students in a quiz-bowl style academic competition. The NOSB program also offers student scholarships and teacher professional development opportunities.

Members of the winning team of Great Lakes Bowl receive an all-expense paid trip to St. Petersburg, Fla. to compete in the national competition set for April 23-25, 2010.

The competition is co-hosted by the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, the Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecosystems Research, and Michigan Sea Grant.

Location of the 2010 Great Lakes Bowl:
